Anyone who knows the hotel scene in Quito, Ecuador will tell you that one of the highest quality hotels in the city is the Hotel Dann Carlton. Located in the North End of the city on Republica del Salvador it is in one of the cities safest districts and in easy reach of the business, entertainment and centers.
My point in making this post is to highlight the attentive manner in which the Hotel Manager, Vasco v. Baselli, takes in caring for hotel patrons. The hotel , itself, exudes richness and the staff demonstrate the prompt and careful attention to your satisfaction that, as a world traveler, I assure you is second to none.
Recently, while dining in the hotel restaurant, a cozy place that I like, a very professional thief swept into the hotel and, as he passed the camera on my dinning room chair, took it. Neither my dining associates nor I saw it happen. Such a thing is such a rarity at the Dann Carlton that everyone was in shock.
While the law in Ecuador does not obligate hotels to assume responsibility for loses in public areas such as the restaurant, when the Hotel Manager learned that my camera had been stolen he immediately called and, after meeting me, committed to its replacement. True to his word, he personally shopped and purchased a new replacement while on a trip to New York City.
A quality camera is essential to my life as a writer and photographer. Mr. Baselli clearly understood this and I appreciate his attention.
Mr. Baselli sets an example that permeates the entire hotel staff and operations. It is no wonder that other hotel professionals have elected him as the President of the local Hoteliers Association.
For those looking for a quality hotel experience in Quito, I highly recommend the Hotel Dann Carlton.
